As a Matthew 25 church in the Presbyterian Church (USA), we seek to reach out to the disadvantaged in our community. We seek to live into Jesus’ words in Matthew 25: 31-46, which calls us to feed the hungry, give drinks to those who thirst, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit the imprisoned. We are not able to meet all these needs in our neighbors, but we seek to do our part.
After consulting with community leaders and looking at the work that other organizations already provide, we seek to find creative solutions that meet the needs of neighbors unable to access other services. This led us to start the Presbyterian Pantry on Wheels over three years ago, which brings food and supplies to those in need, currently 8-11 families.
The collections table in our Narthex is always full of items we donate to various local community agencies. We have collected warm hats and mittens for Briarpatch Youth Services, necessary personal items and other supplies for the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter, supplies for congregational members needed when they attend mission trips, and a different food/supply item each month for our PPOW.
We also give funds and/or support our members who volunteer significant time at the following partner organizations:
